The year is 2026 and Matt & Jeff Hardy are still out here working ladder matches with championship gold up for grabs. In this case, they’ll head to the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts on June 28 for the Slammiversary pay-per-view where they’ll take on The System and The Righteous in a triple threat for the TNA tag team titles.
Are they ever going to retire?
Matt told GOW Media that it will happen when the wheels fall off and their bodies have nothing left to give:
“Yeah, Jeff and I, we’re masochists,
I guess. You know, we want to beat ourselves up. We’re trying to ride the spiral until it ends and that’s kind of our goal. Whenever our bodies tell us like ‘Okay, we’re done.’ That’s when we’ll be done. But until then we’re going to continue to live the childhood dream and try and give back and help people. Like Private Party, like Leon Slater, if there’s anybody out there that’s young and we can give them some nuggets of information, some nuggets of wisdom, we’re all about it. We love being able to give back too, and I think that’s something that we take a lot of pride in.”
Jeff will turn 49 in August while Matt will be 52 come December. If they can still go and keep helping folks in the business, why not?
