Schotty is feeling good.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer kept the day to just mandatory meetings, and let his players leave early ahead of a month-long break before the team heads to training camp in Oxnard, California. Schottenheimer was pleased with how his second offseason as a head coach transpired.
“I could not be more happy about how the offseason went.” Schottenheimer said.
He also discussed Christian Parker
The word “different” is one that can be used to describe some of what the Cowboys have
done this offseason. Another example is hiring a different defensive staff from the year before, with 34-year-old first time coordinator Christian Parker leading the way.
One differentiating element about Parker? He talks trash.
“I would say the [trash] talking from Christian Parker is a little different than what we had last year,” Schottenheimer said. “The guys feed off of it in a good way… It’s been fun to watch that. He’ll stir up CeeDee, George and Dak and those guys. I think we’re in a really good spot.”
Schottenheimer said that Parker’s trash talk doesn’t really go his way as the offensive play caller, but as the head coach, he has no problem with the defense being a thorn in the offense’s side during practice.
“I believe defense wins championships,” Schottenheimer said. “I do believe that. And so if the defense is giving up headaches, that’s fine by me.”

The Cowboys know his medical situation better than anyone, if they believe he is back to form, then extending him should be on the table.
Extend linebacker DeMarvion Overshown
This is not about rewarding a player who has excelled on the field but rather trying to get ahead of things. Overshown missed his entire rookie season in 2023 and played only five games last season because of injury. However, he still has potential to be one of the league’s top off-ball linebackers. The Cowboys could extend him now for a lot less than it will cost in a few months if Overshown has a strong 2026 season.
The other starting linebacker, Dee Winters, is also going to be a free agent after 2026, so it would be good to sign one of them long term. Obviously, an extension for Overshown takes a risk that the player deals with injury again or simply isn’t as good as the expectations. However, it’s an investment in the Cowboys’ future if he does play up to his potential.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said on Thursday that he had “no doubt” that wide receiver George Pickens would be ready to go despite skipping the team’s voluntary offseason work and his belief in the wideout paid off at this week’s minicamp.

The quarterback also said that they’ll find more time to work together ahead of camp in order to ensure that they make the most of Pickens’s ability come the fall.
“That guy makes it easy,” Prescott said. “You see us just in routes on air out there, but you just go turn on the tape, that guy is going to get separation. He’s just different. He understands his leverage, he understands his routes. He understands where I’m looking for him at the catch point, the depth. So, yeah, it’s going to be a beneficial time. It’s going to be great. But we can go throw a lot of touchdowns right now. That guy’s ready.”

England opened its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a strong 4-2 win over Croatia on Wednesday at Dallas Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. But that’s far from the only thing that connects the two historic teams — at least according to former Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The Leicester City legend and current FOX Sports analyst made the comparison between the Cowboys and Three Lions ahead of England’s 4-2 win over Croatia.
“We’re in the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium. I’ll liken England to the Dallas Cowboys a little bit,” Schmeichel said ahead of the England vs. Croatia game. “A massive team with so much talent, but they’ve won it once and have never stopped talking about it.”
England won its lone World Cup in 1966, at the eighth edition of the tournament. Since then, the furthest it has advanced at the tournament is the semifinals, most recently finishing fourth at Russia 2018 after a 2-0 loss to Belgium in the bronze-medal match.
While the Cowboys have a richer history of success with five total Super Bowl trophies, their most recent one was won in 1996, 30 years ago. Since then, Dallas has yet to appear in a Super Bowl, let alone an NFC Championship game.
