What a disappointing loss! The juice was not really there from the lads, as the club lost a tough one to the Magpies. Newcastle effectively neutralized most of City’s players and despite some good looks
from Haaland, could not get a result.
Donnarumma’s deficiencies in the air came up again and the club really looked lethargic for large portions of this one. Some positives, the team did create a bit, but Newcastle put theirs away and City did not. Then, we add the VAR controversy which does sucks you out of the match, so let’s just move on.
On to the reaction-
Pep Guardiola Reaction
“Newcastle is a top side, top players, top manager so unfortunately tonight we could not make the momentum that we had. It was entertaining game, we both had chances and then there was a momentum shift and ultimately we couldn’t win.
“Both keepers were good and after we missed chances. It was an entertaining game with many chances. We were closer in the beginning.”
“It happened in the Bournemouth game and it happened today again. It is what it is after VAR decided. They know perfectly.”
“Always but it is a football game and the opponent is playing and they played good too.”
“No questions, everything is fine.”
“We gave everything,”
“We wanted to make a step like we have done in the last two months but this is not an easy place to come after the international break.
“There is a long, long, long way to go.
“It was a tight game, chances for both sides. Gigio was extraordinary.
“We missed chances and second half we concede a goal.
“There were more chances for both sides but we could not take the result.”
