Rutgers has now lost its first player to the transfer portal this offseason.
Sophomore forward Bryce Dortch plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens, according to Joe Tipton of On3. The portal will officially open on April 7.
Dortch came to Rutgers as part of the historic recruiting class of 2024, which was the highest-rated class in program history.
Dortch served as the backup center for Rutgers this season. He backed up Emmanuel Ogbole and saw an increase in role after Baye Fall was lost for the year
with an injury. Dortch appeared in 31 games this season, making three starts, and playing 14.4 minutes per game. He averaged 2.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. In his career, Dortch averaged 1.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 43 games.
Rutgers now has two open slots remaining for the 2026-27 season. There are 13 scholarships allotted for next season. Dortch is the first player to hit the transfer portal and more could be coming for the Scarlet Knights moving forward.
