Zac Taylor spoke with the media on Tuesday morning ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals‘ first preseason action this Thursday against the Detroit Lions.
Taylor said that his trio of offensive stars will see some action in the game, with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins. That likely means we will see the entire first-team offense for at least a series or two this week.
The Bengals will remain cautious with backup Connor Lew and rotational player Erick All Jr. on Thursday. Both players are coming
off of ACL injuries, and they are being slowly worked back into live action. Both players are progressing well from their injuries and should be back in game action sooner rather than later.
On the defensive side of the ball, new defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence will also see action during the game. That will be a welcome sight to see Lawrence making life miserable for an opposing team in a Bengals uniform.
Dax Hill has been dealing with hamstring tightness throughout camp. The Bengals will continue to be cautious with that situation, so Hill will miss the game on Thursday.
The other defensive starter that will miss the game is Bryan Cook. Cook suffered an undisclosed injury during the Friday night practice in the stadium. While the injury is not expected to be serious, the Bengals have kept him out of practice this week and will do the same for Thursday’s game.
Beyond those two defensive starters, the Bengals enter the game fairly healthy. Shemar Stewart is still out with his hyperextended knee, but he has been seen at practice recently with just a leg sleeve on now.
BJ Hill will also be out as he remains on PUP, though he’s expected to be cleared soon.
Who are some players you are most excited to see on Thursday for Cincinnati?
