Cal Raleigh connected for his 54th home run of the season, breaking a tie with Javy Lopez for the most homers from the catcher position in a season and entering another with Mickey Mantle for the most home runs by a switch hitter.
As the Brewers celebrated their clinching of a playoff spot, manager Pat Murphy read a letter from Bob Uecker written earlier this year specifically for the occasion of clinching.
The Seattle Mariners haven’t been in first place this late in a season since their 116-win season in 2001.
