Terry Stotts last coached the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2020-21 season. After being dismissed from the position, he took a couple years off from the NBA before returning as an assistant coach with Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors. As recent reports have indicated, he’ll move on from that post this summer.
What’s more, according to Portland media veteran Dwight Jaynes, Stotts wouldn’t mind a return to his old stomping grounds. In a brief post on his Substack, Jaynes indicates that he’s
talked to Stotts. More to the point, Stotts has been talking to the Trail Blazers.
Jaynes quotes a Stotts text:
“I would love to come back to the Blazers and Portland,”
He also offers:
And not only that, Stotts confirmed that his agent, Warran LeGarie, has contacted the Trail Blazers.
There are only 30 NBA Head Coaching jobs in existence. Most coaches would love to have one. I’m not sure that this text exchange with Jaynes means that Stotts is exclusively fond of Portland after nine years of service there. It could mean his hat is in the ring for a lead position, period. But at least somebody is expressing interest in the current near-vacancy on the Blazers bench.
