You only get one Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut — and sometimes, it goes about as badly as possible.
That’s what happened to Polish Heavyweight Marek Bujlo, who dropped a slow, uneventful unanimous
decision to Denzel Freeman in the UFC Qatar opener last weekend (Sat., Nov. 22, 2025) inside ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar (watch no highlights).
As a result, after just one UFC appearance, “Bujdzilla” has been released from the promotion — a rarity in today’s roster climate. For context, Bujlo was offered a short-notice opportunity for UFC 324 but had to decline due to injury, which appears to have sealed his fate.
Bujlo’s manager shared his version of events on Facebook (translated from Polish via Google), painting a very different picture of how things unfolded.
“After the fight, UFC assured me that nothing happened, that it was just a debut, that I shouldn’t dwell on it.
They kept asking about my health, showed real involvement in the matter – everything by the book. Back then, I even shared my feelings on social media because they were positive. You could really feel that someone cared about you and was looking out for you.Today (November 26, so four days after the fight), I got a message from the matchmaker with an offer to fight at UFC 324 in Las Vegas (January 24). Knowing full well that the fighter currently can’t even move normally, let alone spar or kick. Knowing exactly about the injury, having seen the photos, having been informed already on November 24 that the foot was damaged. I was forced to turn down the fight offer because health comes first – above any money, numbered events, or media noise.
The result?
Firing. Two days after the assurances that everything was fine, after trying to pressure the fighter into taking a fight with a serious injury. UFC bosses, UFC…”
Bujlo (6-1) exits the promotion with a 0-1 UFC record, suffering his first career loss in the process. All six of his wins came by first-round knockout, making him a fairly promising regional prospect despite the rough debut.
Now 32, Bujlo could still fight his way back to the UFC someday — but the more realistic next step may be a move to PFL or another major organization.
