Liverpool FC academy midfielder Tommy Pilling has completed a permanent transfer to MFK Zemplin Michalovce, a Slovakian team in their top flight.
The deal for the 21-year-old reportedly has no up-front fee but bonuses built into the deal along with sell-on clause.
Pilling signed his first professional
contract four years ago, but has found opportunities to break into the senior team hard to come by. He never made an offical first-team appearance for the Reds, although he did feature in a friendly against Athletic Bilbao just under a year ago and was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup games against Southampton and Crystal Palace last autumn. He played 83 times for the under-21 side.
MFK finished fifth in the Slovakian top flight last season, and here’s hoping Tommy will be able to find his place and help them to a stronger finish this season.
