What up TOC Nation! Hope your week is off to a good start. And for those of us who double as Lions fans, well, I know you have had a big grin on your face all day.
We are back with another check-in on the team
of my esteemed colleague, Lucas Holubar. This past weekend, the Case Western Spartans played their home opener. Here is the report from Lucas:
It was a tough one in the home opener for the blue Spartans. Thankfully no rain delays for once, but a tipped ball INT and called back Kickoff Return touchdown set us back in the first half. Great second half by the defense, shutting Westminster out, the offense made some good adjustments, but the comeback eventually fell short. Final score 23-28 in favor of the Westminster College Titans.
Good news? We get a lot of guys back from injury this week as we continue conference play with a road game at the last placed Bethany College Bison in West Virginia. Hopefully a much-needed win on the horizon after a really challenging first three games so far.
Sometimes the ball bounces the wrong way. Hopefully the breaks go CW’s way next weekend.
Elsewhere in the Spartan-Verse, San Jose State picked up their first win of the season with a home victory over Idaho. The final score was 31-28 with the Mountain West’s version of the Spartans kicking the winning field goal with 7 seconds left.
And in the FCS, Norfolk State was also involved in a 31-28 game, though they ended up on the losing side. NSU had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer with a 42-yard field goal, but the kick was wide. The loss drops these Spartans to 1-3 on the year.
For the weekend, it was another losing performance for the Spartan collective with a 1-3 record.
