The Miami Dolphins continue to build out their 2026 practice squad, adding another eight players Tuesday to the players they signed on Monday. The Dolphins announced the additions on Tuesday afternoon, rounding out the practice squad, at least until the next roster move.
Joining Miami on Tuesday are linebacker Liam Anderson, defensive end Clelin Ferrell, defensive end Amari Gainer, defensive tackle Jordan Miller, wide receiver Will Sheppard, cornerback Jaylin Simpson, defensive tackle Mazi Smith,
and tight end Tre Watson. The Dolphins released quarterback Mark Gronowski from the practice squad to make roster space.
Anderson joins Miami after being waived by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. He started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross, signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. He spent most of his rookie season on the Colts’ practice squad before making a late season appearance. He returned to Indianapolis for the 2024 season, again spending much of the season on the practice squad, before an injury during the 2025 training camp ended his Cincinnati tenure with an injury settlement. He joined the Colts during the 2025 season. Anderson has appeared in four career games with all of his snaps on special teams.
Ferrell returns to the Dolphins after being released on Monday as part of Miami’s roster moves after being awarded seven waiver claims. He joined Miami as a free agent during training camp this year. A 2019 first-round draft pick of the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, Ferrell has also played for the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Chargers in his career. In 98 career games, he has recorded 184 tackles, 12 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 21 sacks.
Gainer was released by the New England Patriots in their roster cuts on Sunday. He originally entered the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was released at the end of the 2025 training camp, then joined the Patriots near the end of the season. He played all 17 games for the Raiders in 2024, primarily on special teams, with five defensive tackles.
Miller signed with the Denver Broncos in 2024 as an undrafted free agent out of SMU and Miami. He spent both his rookie season and last year on the practice squad.
Sheppard went undrafted in 2025, signing with the Green Bay Packers out of Colorado and Vanderbilt. He spent the majority of the year on the practice squad, with a brief stint on the active roster. He was waived by the Packers on Sunday in their roster cuts.
Simpson spent 2025 with the Green Bay Packers, appearing in one game. He was originally a fifth-round selection by the Indianapolis Colts in 2024, spending the season on their practice squad. He has eight career tackles.
Smith was a first-round pick (27th overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 out of Michigan. He was traded to the New York Jets during the 2025 season. In his career, he has played in 42 games, starting 20 of them, with 57 tackles and two sacks.
Watson spent the 2025 season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad after going undrafted out of Texas A&M and Fresno State. He was cut by the Chiefs as part of their roster moves on Sunday.
