After a long offseason, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns are ready to take the field and start the 2025 football season in one of the marquee matchups of the season against the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes.
While this is technically a rematch of the one that ended the Longhorns’ season in the College Football Playoff, both teams are dealing with turnover at key positions. Both teams saw talented and experienced players make the jump to the NFL Draft, including both quarterbacks, with Arch Manning and Julian
Sayin stepping into the full-time starting roles at the most important position on the field. They will both square off against one of the toughest defensive challenges they will see all year, with future NFL players patrolling both defenses.
Texas is breaking in inexperienced skill players alongside Manning, losing the top two receivers and tight end from last year’s team. While the offensive line will sport a new look as well, Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood have stocked that unit with talent with proven development results.
