Dani Olmo says he’s happy to keep on wearing the No. 10 shirt for Spain and has explained that Lamine Yamal hasn’t asked to swap with him.
Yamal has taken over the No. 10 shirt for Barcelona this season but is wearing 19 for the national team. Olmo wears the 10 and says he deserves the iconic number.
“Look, he hasn’t asked me for it either. But I think it’s a number I’ve earned, one I like, and one we wore in the European Championship we won. I don’t see any reason to change it,” he told AS.
Olmo also
spoke about playing alongside with Yamal and says the two possess a great relationship on the pitch.
“I’ve played with him for a long time, I know what he likes, I know what motivates him too, which isn’t just one-on-one, but one-on-two,” he added.
“And in that sense, I try to give him more space. Sometimes I move closer to play a one-two, to keep the ball flowing. And I always give him my full support.”
Yamal scored his first World Cup goal last time out against Saudi Arabia and will be hoping to add to his tally on Friday against Mexico.
