Clubs see “stalled” talks as opening to get Kane (Football Insider)
Bayern Munich expects to have a new contract in place with Harry Kane at some point, but the delay in that agreement happening has led to some reckless speculation and a lot of false hope.
Without his name on the dotted line of a contract extension, Manchester United believes it has just the opening it needs to get a deal done with the high-scoring striker:
Harry Kane has placed a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United on alert as contract talks with Bayern Munich have not progressed.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Premier League clubs could take advantage of his potential availability to lure him back to England.
“Harry Kane’s future is going to be interesting,” Brown told Football Insider. “A lot will depend on what he wants to do, because everybody you speak to says he’s happy at Bayern Munich, but now it’s been suggested he could be tempted away. When people [Hoeness] are saying things like that, of course you’re going to be aware of it.
“If his contract talks maybe aren’t going as planned and they think he could be tempted to go to Saudi, what’s stopping a Premier League clubs from making a move? Whoever it may be, Man United maybe or any other club, if Kane is considering leaving Bayern Munich they would be silly not to be having a look.
“He might want to return to England and have a go at breaking Shearer’s record, that was all the talk when he was leaving Tottenham. By all accounts, I think he’s happy at Bayern and that’s probably not going to change, but if there is a suggestion he could leave, the interest will be there.”
Yeah…maybe Manchester United should not get its hopes up.
Real to make run at Ekitike instead of Haaland? (ESPN)
Because Manchester City is expected to want an insane fee for Erling Haaland, Real Madrid could turn its attention to Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike:
Real Madrid could go all-out to sign a new star striker in the summer of 2027, and Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike has emerged as an attractive option, according to TEAMtalk. The 23-year-old is reported to be high on their radar following an impressive debut campaign on Merseyside, where he has scored 17 goals in 42 appearances. As such, Ekitike’s situation at Liverpool is being “closely monitored” by Los Blancos, who are also tracking Manchester City forward Erling Haaland but have been put off by a €200 million fee.
Ekitike is no Haaland, but if Real Madrid wants to go for it…
Barca linked to Grimaldo (ESPN)
FC Barcelona could be keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen’s silky smooth left-back Alejandro Grimaldo:
Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo has emerged as the main option as Barcelona consider signing a left back, as reported by Diario Sport. There are concerns around Alejandro Balde’s injury record while they aren’t completely convinced about permanently signing João Cancelo from Al Hilal due to his defensive lapses. Grimaldo’s contract with Leverkusen ends in 2027, but the 30-year-old has openly stated that he wants to leave this summer and it would likely take less than his €20 million release clause to complete a move.
Bayern Alumni: Götze re-ups with Eintracht (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Former Bayer Munich star and 2014 German national team hero Mario Götze officially signed a contract extension with Eintracht Frankfurt:
United wants Robinson (ESPN)
Manchester United is among the teams keeping an eye on Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson:
Manchester United have added Fulham and USMNT left back Antonee Robinson to their short list of options for the position, says Football Insider. Robinson, 28, has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool but United are also looking to sign a left back to provide competition for Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu, with Tyrell Malacia expected to leave. On Tuesday, the club was being linked with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.
Álvarez on Barca’s list (ESPN)
FC Barcelona is keeping a very close eye on Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez:
Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez is Barcelona’s priority as they aim to sign a No. 9 striker in the summer, reports Mundo Deportivo, while Atlético could look to replace him with Strasbourg’s Joaquín Panichelli. In another report, Mundo Deportivo states that the Blaugrana’s alternatives to Alvarez are Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic. They aren’t interested in Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko or AC Milan winger Rafael Leão.
