Ahead of a Week 7 clash against the still-undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, the Seattle Seahawks have added some depth to their tight end room.
Seventh-year pro Josiah Deguara was signed to the 17-man practice squad on Monday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
Deguara’s addition provides depth to a tight end corps that will potentially be thinner this week and beyond, after sophomore
Elijah Arroyo suffered a shoulder injury during Thursday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos. While Arroyo’s status for Sunday is not yet clear, Deguara’s signing at least suggests it’s up in the air — if not trending downward. Seattle is slated for a Monday practice, and while no injury report is required, we should have an Arroyo update fairly soon.
Deguara, 29, was a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2020, and played four seasons with them catching 47 passes for 436 yards and two touchdowns. He spent 2024 with the Jaguars and 2025 with the Cardinals, catching three balls in both stops. The veteran bounced around during this year’s preseason, spending time with the Giants and 49ers before landing with the Eagles for a one-game stint. He was released by Philadelphia last week, after going back and forth between the team’s 53-man roster and practice squad.
Should Arroyo miss time with the shoulder injury suffered against the Broncos, Deguara could be elevated for Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs and make his Seahawks debut.
