In the 2025 class, the Texas Longhorns took advantage of the struggles in Tallahassee to flip two Florida State Seminoles commits — Lucas Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon and Port Charlotte (Fla.)
defensive tackle Myron Charles.
On Thursday, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff extended an offer in the Sunshine State hoping to take advantage of the continued demise of the Mike Norvell era.
Pledged to Florida State since February, Miami Central linebacker Karon Maycock quickly set up a visit to Texas, according to Rivals.
Texas remains in pursuit of options at the linebacker position, including Colorado product Brayon Hodge, a former Michigan State commit who took an unofficial visit to Austin in September for the win over Sam Houston.
Maycock, a 6’1, 200-pounder also took summer official visits to Alabama, Syracuse, and Florida despite his pledge to Florida State. A consensus three-star prospect, Maycock is ranked as the No. 663 player nationally and the No. 50 linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
At linebacker, the Horns currently hold pledges the nation’s No. 2 linebacker, Tyler Atkinson, and Houston product Kosi Okpala, who may project more favorably at the edge position.
