While the Seattle Seahawks are in limbo as far as when they’ll sign Terrion Arnold, they have turned their attention to signing another former Alabama cornerback.
Having tried out former All-Pro Trevon Diggs on Tuesday, the Seahawks have added the ex-Cowboys star to the roster on a one-year contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported his signing on Wednesday.
Diggs has
prior familiarity with secondary coach Karl Scott from his Alabama days, as well current Seahawks defensive coordinator and former Cowboys assistant Aden Durde.
The 27-year-old Diggs once led the league in interceptions back in 2021, recording a ridiculous 11 over 17 games. It’s been tough sledding for Diggs in terms of performance and his health in recent years, with an ACL tear in 2023 spiraling his career in a downward trajectory. Ongoing issues with his right knee, combined with repeated issues in coverage and question marks about his tackling, led to his unceremonious departure from Dallas at the end of the 2025 season.
Green Bay added Diggs for a couple of games but let him go shortly after the Packers’ playoff collapse to the Chicago Bears.
At his best, Diggs is a ball-hawk, but that’s also a half-decade ago and he’s been nowhere near that level. Despite his name and former prominence, it shouldn’t be assumed that Diggs is doing anything more than battling for a roster spot in a crowded but ultimately unproven cornerback room. The lack of practice time for injured third-round rookie Julian Neal may have also forced Seattle’s hand a bit as far as looking for more cornerback competition.
Seattle has a full 90-man roster, so a corresponding move must be made to get Diggs on board.
