Is the Sataoa Laumea revenge game on deck?!
No, not really. At least we don’t think.
The 2024 sixth-round draft pick has been signed to the New Orleans Saints practice squad, per the NFL transaction wire. Laumea had visited the Saints earlier in the week and has turned that visit into a signing.
After starting six games in place of injured starting right guard Anthony Bradford in the back half of last season, Seattle waived Laumea during final roster cuts last month. Laumea found himself sliding down
the pecking order below rookies Mason Richman and Bryce Cabeldue before he was let go.
Following roster cuts, Laumea was signed to the practice squad, only to be let go once he received his game check for Week 1.
New Orleans is a bit banged up on the offensive line, with Trevor Penning only just returning to practice for the potential to make his season debut against the Seahawks this Sunday. Right tackle Taliese Fuaga sat out Wednesday’s practice due to a back issue, while Dillon Radunz (who deputized for Penning) is also dealing with injury.
Depending on how the week goes, perhaps there is a chance Laumea could get elevated for game day purposes, but I wouldn’t count on it. This does all but signify that Laumea isn’t a long-term “ghost roster” player for the Seahawks, and now he can get a fresh start elsewhere.
