Maryland indoor track & field won six separate events at the Navy Invitational to open the season Saturday.
Most notably, graduate student Maya Valmon’s 23.92 time on the 200 meters propelled her into second
on the Terps’ all-time indoor list — she captured the event. Senior Nyla Cherry also placed first in the long jump, leaping 5.73 meters.
In the 4×400, Valmon, Ka’nai Bey, Taylor Riley and Maya Mosley set a facility record with a time of 3:42.57. Riley also had some individual success, capturing the crown in the 500 meters with a time of 1:15.29. Ella O’Neall won her event with a throw of 14.09 meters, and Armanie Coleman closed out the Terps’ victories with a 7.45-second 60 meters — just 0.1 seconds off the facility record.
