It is almost time for actual, meaningful NFL football, as the league will start off the 2025 season when the Dallas Cowboys play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football.
For the Seattle Seahawks the season won’t start until Sunday, when they host the division rival San Francisco 49ers, and Monday the team announced it had made a change on the practice squad.
The Seahawks signed D’Anthony Bell in free agency back in the spring, after the Cleveland
Browns opted not to extend a restricted free agent tender.
In three seasons in the NFL Bell has seen limited defensive snaps, playing a total of just 392 snaps for the Cleveland defense. However, he established himself as a mainstay on special teams as a rookie, and was on the field for more than a thousand special teams snaps in his three seasons with the Browns.
After playing significant special teams snaps for the Seahawks during the preseason, it would not be a surprise to see Bell elevated from the practice squad to the gameday roster in the early weeks of the season, as the team awaits an inevitable injury that would create a spot for Bell on the 53-man roster.
In order to make room for Bell the Seahawks released 2024 sixth-round pick Sataoa Laumea.
