Walker has played the role of good soldier this year, pitching in whatever role the team has asked while they sorted their pitching staff out at the beginning of the season. He had a string of games that made some believe he could compete for a playoff start, but those dreams have evaporated. At this point, the team should simply thank him for his season, hand him a team issue pullover and reserve his spot at the top step for the playoff run.
