What is the story about?
There
is a little bit of news from the Jays:
- Trey Yesavage had surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee. They are not saying he is out for the season (but I would be amazed if he came back this year). If they don’t make a move towards getting into the playoffs, I can’t see any reason to rush him.
- Jameson Taillon has right forearm tendinitis. I remember Bill James having this weird thing about insisting it should be spelled tendonitis. As you get older it is always good to fixate on weird things.
- Chase Lee is back in his spot.
- And Spencer Arrighetti is unlikely to be back anytime soon.
- Simeon Woods Richardson and a handful of others are options to fill Taillon’s spot.
- Kazuma Okamoto has been removed from tonight’s lineup again. I can imagine it would be tough to swing the bat with the thumping his knee took.

I’m interested in moving Bateman into center, when Straw was originally there. I’d love to hear the wherefore and the why, one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs.
I’m interested in seeing how the umpires will manage to award a run to the Red Sox tonight. They used a lot of imagination yesterday.
