WWE is crowning a new top contender to Roman Reigns and the world heavyweight championship by holding a tournament featuring some of the top luchadors under the company umbrella. Penta and La Parka advanced in their first round matches over the past week, and will meet in the semifinals. That left just two more to determine who will square up in the other semifinal, and both went down on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
First, Rey Fenix, the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion, took care
of business against El Fiscal, who was getting exposure to a wider audience here in the States. Fiscal was solid but Fenix was always going to go over with the Mexican Muscle Buster, and he did just that.
Later, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. gave Dragon Lee everything he could handle but Lee is the main roster wrestler between the two, and, just like Fenix before him, he was always going to go over. Sure enough, Lee pinned him clean after Operation Dragon.
That gives us Penta vs. La Parka and Rey Fenix vs. Dragon LEe for the right to battle over who will challenge Reigns for his championship on Sept. 14 when Monday Night Raw is held in Mexico City.
