For the third week in a row, there’s no good news in Colorado’s injury report. The Buffs entered their 1:30 p.m. matchup with Iowa State as the Big 12’s most injured team, as 17 players are listed as out on their conference-mandated injury report.
Offensively, Colorado will once again be without running backs Simeon Price and DeKalon Taylor. Price and Taylor were easily CU’s best two options out of the backfield at the start of the year, but both have missed multiple weeks to nurse injuries. Unfortunately
for Colorado, they’ll once again sit out against the Cyclones this afternoon.
Additionally, offensive weapon Drelon Miller will also sit today due to injury. Miller has been a reliable wide receiver for the Buffs, but has filled in at running back for CU’s previous two games and impressed. This Colorado offense will greatly miss Miller’s dynamic presence today, but should have the depth to make up for his absence.
Wide receivers Hykeem Williams, Isaiah Hardge, Carson Westbrook and Jack Hestera are also unavailable, along with tight end Sav’ell Smalls. Offensive linemen Phillip Houston and Tyler Brown will sit as well.
Defensively, Colorado will be without starting safety Carter Stoutmire, who suffered an undisclosed injury over the last week. Stoutmire has started every game at safety for the Buffs so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how they account for his absence.
Defensive end Arden Walker is also unavailable for Colorado. Walker has been one of CU’s most reliable pass rushers so far this season, so missing him today is a big blow for the Buffs. Additionally, defensive linemen Sam Okunlola, Tavian Coleman, Tawfiq Thomas and Gavriel Lightfoot will be out. Coleman and Lightfoot both underwent surgery in the last two weeks, so their return is likely a while away.
Kickoff is coming up soon at Folsom Field, so make sure to follow along with Ralphie Report for your gameday updates!
