After playing twelve matches across the Bundesliga and Champions League last season, Jonas Urbig knows that he needs to be prepared for whatever type of match comes his way. After the DFB-Pokal match against Wehen Wiesbaden, Urbig had this to say about being called upon, “It doesn’t matter against whom we play and if it’s a friendly game or not, I prepare as best as I can to help the team.” When asked whether he would he will start next time, he gave the political answer of, “That is not something
we discuss here.”
Whether Neuer is hurt — as he was last season in the Champions League — or suspended — like he was for Wednesday’s Pokal match and one more after his red card in last season’s Pokal exit against Leverkusen — Urbig has stepped up to help his team. Luckily his team had his back today, as he failed to save either of the two shots on goal that he faced. While it was not pretty, Kane, Olise, and the attack got the job done just in time to avoid extra time.
What do you think — will Urbig start in the Round of 32 of the DFB-Pokal?
Bayern Munich traveled to Frankfurt to take on SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB-Pokal.
The home side was game and did give Bayern Munich a battle. Sure, the Bavarians were deeper, quicker, stronger, and better, but the 3.Liga side was not going to go down easy in what was an entertaining match. Bayern Munich ultimately won 3-2.
