The San Francisco Giants wrap up this three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon from Chase Field. They will be looking to avoid the sweep, but given the last few days, we’ll see how that goes.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Justin Verlander, who enters today’s game with a 3.94 ERA, 3.74 FIP, with 124 strikeouts to 47 walks in 134.2 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ 5-1 walk-off win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, in which he allowed
just one run on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks in seven innings.
He’ll be facing off against Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt, who enters today’s game with a 5.31 ERA, 4.32 FIP, with 131 strikeouts to 34 walks in 157.2 innings pitched. His last start was in the Diamondbacks’ 9-8 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Friday, in which he allowed five runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and a walk in four and two thirds innings.
