We’re not quite halfway through the 2026 NFL season, but the next time the Seattle Seahawks play a game will be November, so we might as well take a look at where they stand in the playoff hunt after their Week 7 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
What makes Seattle’s win over the Chiefs doubly important is the fact that the San Francisco 49ers lost 29-20 to the Atlanta Falcons, ending their undefeated run as they enter a bye week. While it would’ve been cool for the Los Angeles Rams to keep slumping
and lose to the Las Vegas Raiders, that did not materialize, but they’re still behind the Seahawks in the NFC West battle. The Arizona Cardinals also lost.
NFC West standings after Week 7
1. San Francisco 49ers (6-1, 3-0 NFCW)
2. Seattle Seahawks (4-3, 1-1 NFCW)
3. Los Angeles Rams (3-4, 1-2 NFCW)
4. Arizona Cardinals (2-5, 0-3 NFCW)
In the bigger picture, the Seahawks are still out of a playoff spot due to the insane depth of the NFC North, in which every team is above .500. It’s not a thing to worry about right now, but it seems more likely than not that the NFC North will be the main competition for Seattle in terms of the Wild Card hunt.
NFC playoff standings after Week 7
1. Minnesota Vikings (6-0)
2. San Francisco 49ers (6-1)
3. New York Giants (4-2-1)
4. Carolina Panthers (3-3)
5. Chicago Bears (5-2)
6. Detroit Lions (4-2)
7. Green Bay Packers (4-3) – Currently has tiebreaker on Seahawks due to better record vs. NFC (3-3 vs. 1-2)
8. Seattle Seahawks (4-3)
9. Atlanta Falcons (3-4, 3-2 NFC)
10. Los Angeles Rams (3-4, 2-2 NFC)
11. Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) – Monday Night Football
12. Dallas Cowboys (2-4) – Monday Night Football
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5, 1-0 NFCS)
14. New Orleans Saints (2-5, 0-1 NFCS, 1-3 NFC)
15. Arizona Cardinals (2-5, 1-4 NFC)
16. Washington Commanders (1-4-1)
Damn, that Commanders loss just really looks so annoying compared to Seattle’s other losses. But there’s still a lot of ball left, and the Seahawks still have reason to set their sights on the NFC West instead of effectively limiting their scope to the Wild Card chase.
