Within a week of his accidentally brilliant debut at Elimination Chamber, a report went out that WWE officials were “pleasantly surprised” by sales of Danhausen’s first official merchandise, this shirt:
Well, even with a months warning that people loved that merch-hausen, WWE’s partners were apparently caught off guard by demand for all things related to the Very Nice, Very Evil One at WrestleMania 42’s WWE World in Las Vegas. WrestleVotes reported today (April 23) that Fanatics was “blown away” by how
well Danhausen products sold around last weekend’s show, and had to restock his items several times due to high demand.
For that reason, Votes hears Danhausen will be added to Fanatics Fest in New York City July 16-19. The show’s featured more and more WWE stars fans can meet for a price since teaming up with WWE, and Danhausen figures to be an even bigger draw.
Personally, I’m not too worried about us fickle wrestling fans turning on Danhausen any time soon. Since his second appearance, he’s demonstrated a knack for knowing how to turn a misfire into gold, and proved he could sell an idea as well as he can a shirt.
And just as I was wondering if Danhausen was being a little overexposed by WWE, he figured out how to turn that overexposure into part of his act. Using his WrestleMania moment with John Cena last Sunday as a reason to claim Cena passed the Fruity Peebles torch to him…
…Danhausen now has a reason to have a ridiculous amount of merch on his WWE Shop dot com page.
Love that Danhausen. But probably not as much as WWE, Fanatics and his own wallet full of human monies do.
