The NFL is back and that means that FanDuel has you covered with all the greatest odds, parlays, and props. For the Texans epic Week One matchup against the Buffalo Bills, FanDuel has their opening odds set for the big game. Between Josh Allen’s new weapons in D.J. Moore and the Texans new offensive line, both teams are set to make their case for the top team in the AFC. Below are the line, money line, and over/under for the contest.
The Line: Texans +1.5
Take it. Take it. Take it. Houston is 3-0 against Josh Allen in Houston.
Allen will have a healthy squad who is quite aware of their record against the Texans, but trust the history. I personally predict a comeback win against the Bills after Allen and James Cook come out hot against the Texans defense.
One item to note: When the schedule was released months ago, initial odds had the Bills by -2.5 points. The odds have shifted to be more in favor of the Texans. There are also sites where the Texans are favored, so if you believe Houston will win, FanDuel has strong odds for you.
The Moneyline: Texans +102
This is essentially even odds. A $10 bet would net you $10.20 profit. It’s a smart wager given the Texans insistence on playing it close, but with the line so close, going that direction is savvier. Houston is expected to keep this game close with their impressive defense. But it is C.J. Stroud who will need to will this team to victory.
Obviously, FanDuel isn’t too optimistic on Stroud’s season.
Stroud was sidelined in last year’s Thursday Night Football contest against the Bills. It will be interesting how much his presence impacts the speed and tenor of the game. Houston should take more big shots down the field. In particular, newly added WR Kayshon Boutte should have a big impact on this matchup.
Over/Under: 44.5
Last year’s grudge match ended 23-19. There were several explosive plays, but that low-end game still almost eclipsed the O/U here. This feels low given two offenses that look to take big shots at one another. The Texans defense will have something to say, but even so this is Josh Allen. I suspect more than 45 total points to be scored by both teams this game.
The Bills only scored less than 22 points five times last season. They had multiple games over 30 points and consistently score 25+. The Texans on the other hand struggled to score more than 24 points. The Texans only scored more than 24 points seven times all season. However, I think combined these teams should surpass the margin set for this game by FanDuel.
Parlay of the Day: Woody Marks Anytime Touchdown + D.J. Moore 15+ yard reception
A $100 bet would land almost $300 in profit on this one. Marks should be a staple in the Texans offense and the Bills will want to get D.J. Moore cooking early. Woody is entering his second season as the dual-threat running back option for the Texans. RB David Montgomery is expected to get the lion’s share of red zone work, but don’t be surprised if Marks is used out of the backfield on play action close to the goal line.
The Buffalo Bills hired Pete Carmichael Jr. as their new offensive coordinator. He is a pass-first coach as a protege of Sean Payton for years. Expect him to want to get Moore involved deep to stretch the field. According to ESPN, “DJ Moore is 1 of 5 players with 50+ catches on throws of 20+ air yards over the last 5 seasons, joining CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill and George Pickens”.
