The USA Basketball women’s national team defeated Puerto Rico 91-48 on Thursday in San Juan for the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
Like their first game against Senegal, this wasn’t really a contest. In fact, Team USA never trailed in this one. The Puerto Ricans shot 28.1 percent for the entire contest and attempted only 8 free throws. There wasn’t much to complain about for Team USA, though their three point shooting and free throw efficiency should have been better.
Washington Mystics
forward Kiki Iriafen got the start and scored 10 points in 13 minutes for Team USA. She also shot 5-of-5 from the field. Paige Bueckers led the Americans with 16 points.
For Puerto Rico, Imani McGee-Stafford led with 14 points.
Team USA’s next game is on Saturday against Italy. Tip off is at 5 p.m. ET.
