Personal Thoughts
Looking at the running backs, while Dilin Jones led the way with 14 carries, you’ll see that the snap count difference was quite similar between him, Darrion Dupree, and Cade Yacamelli.
Dupree had eight carries, while Yacamelli had five, but they were both on the field a good amount, with the former running a good amount of routes as a receiver, and the latter being used in pass protection on five reps as well.
The tight end splits were fairly even as well, with Wisconsin deploying more two-tight end sets, hence the higher count for both Mason and Acker.
At wide receiver, Vinny Anthony and Chris Brooks were both used a good amount on the outside, while Trech Kekahuna took most of the reps in the slot. Still, there was a good amount of rotation here, as Jayden Ballard filled in on the outside, while Tyrell Henry saw some touches in the slot as well.
Noticeably, the Badgers ran Eugene Hilton out there as the No. 4 outside receiver, with the true freshman immediately getting opportunities, catching a pass for 11 yards and drawing a pass interference on another target.
Along the offensive line, the starters were out there for the majority of the game, but Wisconsin did pull left tackle Davis Heinzen for Leyton Nelson late. Heinzen was struggling, especially in pass protection, where he gave up five pressures and two sacks off the edge. We’ll see what Wisconsin does there going forward.
