The Portland Trail Blazers might have reason for renewed optimism as they enter the 2025-26 NBA season this month, but they still face speed bumps and potential pitfalls. Their roster has been salted with veterans, but health, balance, and relative inexperience among their core players contribute to a sense of unease. Whatever is promised, nothing is guaranteed.
Today we were scheduled to run the last of our ongoing series on serious questions facing the Blazers this year. Life got in the way, so
instead we’re going to publish the series-wrapping question a day early and finish the actual analysis tomorrow.
Here’s the issue at hand: Despite the optimism, roster adds, and what have you—acknowledging that the Blazers have a chance to turn their story around this year—if they DO get tripped up, what one thing will do it and why?
Notice that we said one thing. We’ll continue to analyze the team and the season as a whole in other posts. Here we’re asking a targeted question. If they’re going to get got by one, single factor, what will that factor be? Could be a player. Could be the inability to do something important. Could be an overarching characteristic. Whatever it is, share your thoughts and reasoning in the comment section and watch for the last of our Big Question analysis posts tomorrow!
