According to a report from Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Vinzent Tschirpke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich could forgo any high-priced signings in favor of a more limited summer with “targeted” reinforcements:
Bayern’s supervisory board sees no urgent need for expensive new signings. The squad is already among the best in Europe, and there’s no unrest among the bench players. Nevertheless, the sporting management, led by Max Eberl, is looking for ‘targeted reinforcements’, such as
a backup for Luis Díaz on the left wing and a right-back.
This report seems to be at odds with some of the biggest news regarding Bayern Munich’s transfer wishes. For weeks now, the Bavarians have been linked to Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon, who will undoubtedly be expensive.
Is Bayern Munich going to eschew that kind of deal in favor of several smaller moves to balance the squad better? It seems like it could be one of the options that the club is considering.
If the report is true, the club should keep an eye on Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere, who will be a lot cheaper than Gordon. The 25-year-old could also cover multiple spots on the front line as well.
