New Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak may not be able to get Justin Outten as his run game coordinator, but he sure as heck will try to get at least one Seattle Seahawks assistant to join him on his new
venture.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Friday that safeties coach Jeff Howard, who’s considered a major part of the development of rookie Nick Emmanwori, will interview for Vegas’ vacant defensive coordinator position. Patrick Graham was Pete Carroll’s DC last season but has since taken up the same role with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Howard joined the Seahawks in 2024 in Mike Macdonald’s first season. His previous NFL experience included seven seasons with the Minnesota Vikings as a defensive assistant, followed by three years with the Cleveland Browns as a DBs coach/pass game coordinator (similar to the current role held by the Seahawks’ Karl Scott), and a year with the Los Angeles Chargers as linebackers coach in Brandon Staley’s final season. Howard hasn’t been a defensive coordinator in any level of football since he coached high school football in Texas.
The Raiders have also requested an interview with Seahawks receivers coach Frisman Jackson for offensive coordinator, albeit presumably not in a play-caller role.
