Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to know as the Giants get ready to scrimmage the Miami Dolphins this week.
Power jumps off Arvell Reese’s Giants debut film: ‘He’s a Ferrari’ | New York Daily News
Arvell Reese may be a rookie, but he doesn’t hit like one. Minnesota Vikings fullback Max Bredeson, left guard Donovan Jackson and tight end T.J. Hockenson found that out in the No. 5 overall pick’s Giants preseason debut on Saturday at MetLife Stadium.
Reese blew up one Jordan Mason run by diagnosing the play, shedding Jackson on the move and making the tackle.
He knocked Bredeson down to the ground on his knees with a crushing 1-on-1 collision with the Vikes’ fullback on an Aaron Jones carry that the running back had to turn inside. And Reese moved Hockenson back a couple yards on another Jones run.

Former Players Association president: ‘Insane’ Dart bothered by blue tent | NJ.com
Domonique Foxworth, a former president of the NFL Players Association, says it’s “insane” and “stupid” that Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was frustrated with having to go to the blue medical tent on Saturday for a concussion evaluation during a preseason game with the Minnesota Vikings.
“All quarterbacks have to change something about the way that they play,” Foxworth said Monday on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “I think Jaxson Dart’s personality is a thing that I find a little bit more unique and interesting, that he puts this kind of linebacker mentality to the game. And I think it’s insane that he’s bothered by going to the blue tent in a preseason game when he got blasted and stayed on the ground for extra seconds. If that’s what he’s pushing back on, that’s just stupid.”

But as Dart acclimates to a new offense — particularly after playing in one last year that was largely built to make his transition to the NFL as smooth as possible — growing pains were expected. And amid the process of adjusting to a new scheme, Dart actually sees all the new voices as a positive thing — he’s soaking up a lot of knowledge from coaches who have been at this for a long time.
“You get to hear their perspectives. You get to hear, obviously, their coaching each and every day,” Dart said. “That alone gives this staff a really good edge for us as a team. … As players, we have all the confidence in the world in them being able to put us in the best spots to succeed.”
How Malachi Fields’ value to Giants goes beyond catching the football | The Record
Malachi Fields just smirked at the mere mention of the play.
Sure, the New York Giants rookie wide receiver was more than happy to talk about how he and quarterback Jaxson Dart connected for the most impressive touchdown of the preseason to this point. But that wasn’t the one play Fields enjoyed making most Saturday afternoon in the Giants’ exhibition loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Wide Receivers: Malachi Fields, Giants (90.4). The 74th overall pick, Malachi Fields, ran only 11 routes but moved the chains three times. That included an impressive contested touchdown catch on a scramble drill, a play he executed with the awareness of an established veteran.
Giants’ top rookies relishing first opportunity to feel like they belong with early results promising | New York Post
There is always an inclination to take a look in August and think “Hmm, this draft class could be top-notch. The young guys look darn good.’’
That inclination always needs to be tempered with a companion thought and a historical reminder: “Yeah, what I saw in the heat of the summer sure cooled off once the real season settled in.’’
