Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
2020 NFL Redraft: Rebuilding the first round based on PFF grades and data – PFF 4) New York Giants: QB Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma (Round 2, Pick 53). Original Pick: T Andrew Thomas, Georgia. Hurts has turned into one of the best dual-threat players in the game, culminating in his Super Bowl victory at the end of the 2024 season. Over the past three years, he has earned a fifth-ranked 91.1 PFF overall grade. During that same span, including postseason play, Hurt leads
all players with 52 rushing touchdowns. […] 21) Philadelphia Eagles: WR Jerry Jeudy, Alabama (Round 1, Pick 15). Original Pick: WR Jalen Reagor, TCU. Reagor was infamously selected one pick earlier than Justin Jefferson and lasted only two years in Philadelphia before ironically getting traded to the Vikings. The Eagles instead select Jeudy, who has become a very solid receiver. He tallied a career-best 1,229 receiving yards this past season with the Browns and racked up the eighth-most targets in the NFL (142).
Eagles Training Camp Practice Notes: Cooper DeJean takes outside cornerback reps for first time this summer – BGN
Speaking of Kelee Ringo, major stock down day for him. Ringo did not rotate in with the first-team defense as he previously had been doing. Rookie Mac McWilliams rotated in for Jackson with the starters instead. Ringo mostly worked with the second-team defense. And even then, Ringo rotated out with Jakorian Bennett taking his place and McWilliams staying on the field at right cornerback. There was a series where Ringo allowed back-to-back receptions to undrafted rookie Darius Cooper. Ringo wasn’t even anywhere near Cooper on the second rep. Ringo then participated in some third-team reps during the developmental period late in practice. Seems like he’s fallen out of starting contention.
NFL preseason: Observations on every team in Week 2 – SB Nation
Eagles’ rookie LB Jihaad Campbell is going to make a lot of plays as a blitzer. He got a sack on a blitz in this game, and it was an area where he excelled at Alabama. The versatility of the Eagles’ front seven improved by the day. The second cornerback spot on the Eagles’ defense is going to be a big question mark. They traded for CB Jakorian Bennett to push CB Kelee Ringo, but Ringo has not played well this training camp. You of course can put Cooper DeJean outside, but that would be making him less efficient.
Eagles positional group review: Better or worse since the start of training camp? – PhillyVoice
Cornerback: Quinyon Mitchell had a stellar camp, and looks poised to be a top 5 cornerback in 2025. That’s huge. Unfortunately, whoever wins the CB2 opposite him is going to be the player opposing offensive coordinators try to expose, and there’s a pretty good chance they’ll have some success there. Verdict: Worse.
Game Review – PS #2 CLE 22, PHI 13 – Iggles Blitz
OL – The line looked good on the series after Mukuba’s fumble recovery. It was rough other than that. Kendall Lamm had his struggles. Matt Pryor too. Darrian Kinnard played RG and probably looked the best. Brett Toth was okay at LG, but not so good at center. Rookie Myles Hinton was better than last week, but still had a penalty and gave up a big hit on the QB. He is not ready to play in a real game. Trevor Keegan played RG in the second half. He didn’t impress me at all. Rookie Cameron Williams was the RT in the second half. He’s got the tools to develop into a good blocker, but struggles. At least with him you can absolutely see the potential. I just don’t see it with Keegan. The line did not handle stunts and twists well. There was poor communication all over the place. The Browns loaded the LOS a lot and that caused more confusion than it should have.
Jakorian Bennett sees ‘the opportunity’ in Eagles’ crowded cornerback battle – Inquirer
It’s clear that Bennett feels confident he will make the team. When asked if he plans on keeping No. 49 — an untraditional jersey number for a cornerback — this season, Bennett said it depends on the numbers that remain after the initial cuts. But his role for the season remains up in the air. As he pours everything into his preparation this week, Bennett is determined to show what he can bring to the position. “I just feel like it’s a good opportunity for me to just do what I do,” Bennett said. “That’s why I’m meeting, how I’m meeting, doing the things I’m doing. “Obviously, I see the opportunity, so I’ve just got to go out there and be prepared and just play how I play.”
NFL Power Rankings 2025: Who is under the most pressure? – ESPN
1. . Philadelphia Eagles. Postdraft ranking: 2. Who’s under the most pressure: Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. The Eagles are well-established, coming off a Super Bowl. But one significant change came at offensive coordinator, where Patullo replaced Kellen Moore and will serve as a full-time playcaller for the first time in his career. Patullo has been coach Nick Sirianni’s right-hand man since 2021, and the offense isn’t expected to change much, making for a smooth transition. But with so much offensive talent, the bar is high, and Patullo will absorb some of the heat if the unit doesn’t operate as expected.
2025 NFL Preseason Week 2 rookie grades: TreVeyon Henderson, Ashton Jeanty run hard; Tre Harris excels – NFL.com
JIHAAD CAMPBELL: B+. Campbell covered a lot of ground as part of a two-linebacker set in the first half of the team’s loss to the Browns on Saturday. While losing the ball on occasion, he ran to either sideline and downfield when needed. The first-round pick looked adept covering running backs, slot receivers and tight ends, making RB Pierre Strong Jr. hear footsteps on an early drop and forcing a field goal attempt at the end of the first half with a secure tackle. He also used heavy hands to beat blocks, including on a second-quarter blitz in which he chased Dillon Gabriel on a play that resulted in a pick-six.
Spadaro: What’s at stake in the final week of Training Camp? – PE.com
The offense has a chance to be very, very good … again. So, understand this: Once practice ends on Wednesday, so does Training Camp in its public form. From that point forward, the practices will be closed and Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo will start preparations for the Cowboys. What that means is the offense we see on opening night is specifically designed to create favorable matchups for Philadelphia. At that time, we will get a sense of what wrinkles Patullo wants to include in the scheme. The offense returns 10 starters from last season, and the 11th position has been manned very ably this summer by Tyler Steen at right guard. What is different about the offense is the obvious improvement from wide receiver Jahan Dotson, more depth in that room overall; the punch, power and versatility from newcomer A.J. Dillon at running back; the second-year uptick from running back Will Shipley; and a group overall that plays with confidence. Should be fun to see. An NFL season is a long one, so there are no rushes to judgment, but the Eagles feel really good about the offense.
Bengals remain the betting favorites to keep Trey Hendrickson – PFT
The ideal landing spot would be a team that is in the Super Bowl window, and that views Hendrickson as a player who may help push them over the top. Then there’s the question of whether the Bengals would trade him to another AFC team. The NFC contenders seem to be the best destination: Lions, Packers, Commanders, 49ers. And, yes, the always-lurking Eagles.
At least 1 Eagle ran away with a job this training camp – NBCSP
he Eagles entered training camp hoping their position battles would be decided by one player at each spot running away with their jobs. At least one did. While there are still some serious questions on the defensive side of the ball, Tyler Steen has clearly wrapped up the right guard position. This summer, Steen has taken every first-team reps at right guard in all 15 practices and got the afternoon off in the Eagles’ second preseason game with the rest of the starters on offense. After losing his job to Mekhi Becton in 2024, that right guard spot belongs to Steen in 2025. “Tyler is having an unbelievable camp,” Lane Johnson said. “He’s physically stronger than he’s ever been. He has tremendous feet. And he’s going against Jalen Carter and Moro (Ojomo) every day so two really dynamic players, as you know, and he’s holding his own, communicating the lines.
Best Defensive DVOA 1950-2024 – FTN Fantasy
I’ve written numerous times about the 1991 Philadelphia Eagles, who had the greatest defense of all time but missed the playoffs because their offense was a complete disaster after Randall Cunningham tore his ACL in Week 1. The Eagles are one of only three teams since 1978 to allow less than 4.0 yards per play — the others were the 1979 Buccaneers and the 2008 Steelers — and had 26 interceptions and 43 forced fumbles. They were incredibly well balanced, as they’ll show up below as both a top 20 pass defense and a top 20 run defense.
Commanders run game explosion comes at a perfect time – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders finished their Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals, rushing for 185 yards on 30 attempts. Eliminating the quarterback rush attempts, the Commanders averaged six yards per carry on 24 rush attempts. It was an excellent night on the ground for Washington, and their performance comes at a perfect time following the news earlier in the day that their 2024 starting running back, Brian Robinson Jr., was on the trade block and would not play in the game on Monday. The Commanders clearly want more out of the position, and leading up to the game, felt they had an opportunity to grow at the position with players like Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jacory Croskey-Merritt getting more touches. While the starters and second-team were still in for both teams, the Rodriguez Jr. and Croskey-Merritt combo combined for 94 yards on eight carries. The Commanders sealed Brian Robinson’s future with the team with the pre-game report, but the running backs’ performances themselves make Washington’s decision to move on look right. John Bates, Josh Conerly Jr., and Andrew Wylie excelled during their time on the field, helping create and seal lanes for both backs to run through untouched on the first level. Granted, there will be more dominant defenses during the regular season than the Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive front, but this is a good starting point to build confidence in Washington’s new look backfield.
Report: Jonathan Mingo could miss 4-6 weeks with PCL injury – Blogging The Boys
The news is unfortunate for Mingo because he has had a solid offseason flashing at times in training camp and competing with other receivers for a spot on the depth chart behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. He hasn’t been able to flash in the preseason the way some have hoped given the erratic play from quarterback Joe Milton, but now being sidelined for multiple weeks hampers any progress made in training camp. Mingo came to Dallas last year before the trade deadline and struggled to hit the ground running learning a new playbook, and being cast aside by a coaching staff not wanting to give him playing time on the field. [BLG Note: Mingo seems poised to miss Week 1 against the Eagles.]
New York Giants in the Super Bowl? One NFL insider thinks so – Big Blue View
Let’s walk before running, and run before we expect the Giants to start leaping tall buildings. The Super Bowl at the end of this season is a pipe dream. In my game-by-game prediction way back when the schedule was released, a predicted a 7-10 season. Despite the optimistic summer that the Giants have had, that remains about the best outcome I am willing to predict. Maybe the way we should look at even one voter saying the Giants could reach the Super Bowl is that there is some recognition that the Giants have taken steps forward. That is at least something to feel good about.
