Newcastle United’s emphasis on recruiting emerging talent looks set to continue beyond the summer window, with the club’s scouts keeping tabs on some of the most highly rated teenagers in English soccer.
Leicester City midfielder Louis Page is the latest prospect attracting Newcastle’s attention. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reported that Newcastle sent representatives to watch the 18-year-old during Leicester’s 4-3 victory away to Stockport County last week.

Edgeley Park, creating two goals as Leicester secured all three points. However, Newcastle folks were far from alone in attending the game.
“TEAMtalk can confirm that Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United and Sunderland were also in attendance at Stockport, with all five clubs continuing to check on Page’s development,” Bailey reported.
Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund also sent scouts, while Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have previously shown interest in the England youth international.
Page has attracted comparisons with Jude Bellingham because of his playing style, technical ability, maturity and influence in possession. Dortmund’s presence is particularly notable given the German club’s track record of developing young English players, including Bellingham.
Manchester United, however, appears to represent the biggest obstacle for Newcastle. Bailey reported that United came close to securing Page during the summer and remains confident it is in pole position for his signature because of the groundwork already completed.
Newcastle’s presence at Stockport, however, shows that the club continues to consider Page an attainable target as his development accelerates and could materialize in Tyneside.
The midfielder joined Leicester in 2025 and remains under contract until 2029. Leicester rejected an offer worth around €12 million (£10.4 million) from Manchester United in August, with its asking price subsequently reported at approximately €14 million (£12.1 million) guaranteed and potentially €18 million (£15.6 million) including add-ons.
There is no indication yet that Newcastle has submitted an offer or formally approached Leicester. For now, the Magpies are simply scouting Page alongside an increasingly growling group of suitors.
