The Wisconsin Badgers are moving ahead to Week 2, where they’ll take on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders on Saturday, with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. at Camp Randall Stadium.
Wisconsin started off the season strong with a 17-0 shutout over the Miami (OH) RedHawks, as their revamped defense shined in the victory. However, they did deal with an injury to starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr., who is currently week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
As a result, Danny O’Neil played over a half
of football in Week 1, and will now take the start this weekend for the Badgers, with senior transfer Hunter Simmons taking on the backup responsibilities.
Elsewhere, Wisconsin’s volleyball team has gotten off to a 2-1 start, currently having the No. 8 ranking in the country. They started off the year with a 3-1 win over Notre Dame and followed that up with a closely-contested 3-2 win over No. 14 Kansas before getting swept at the Kohl Center by No. 5 Texas.
On Thursday, they bounced back with a sweep of UC Davis, and now have back-to-back matches, facing Chicago State on Friday, where they’ll look to do the same.
Wisconsin has its first big road contest next week when they travel to Atlanta to take on No. 22 Georgia Tech on Friday, so they’ll look to build up some momentum before then.
