Darian DeVries and Indiana men’s basketball are set on addressing the center position through the high school recruiting route, it seems.
The Hoosiers did what they could to assemble a frontcourt through the transfer portal this past offseason, with former Davidson big Reed Bailey starting at the five during the program’s foreign tour games in Puerto Rico. Aside from Florida transfer Sam Alexis, the depth is pretty questionable. Indiana signed Bosnian center Andrej Acimovic from the international
ranks, but he seems more of a long-term project than an answer for next season.
Indiana’s staff has been hard at work at the position in the class of 2026, extending offers to seven prospects at this time. Among them is Ethan Taylor, a 4-star per the Rivals Industry Ranking and a 5-star per the 247Sports Composite.
DeVries himself, along with multiple other high-major coaches, was in to see Taylor at Link Academy in Missouri, per Eric Bossi of 247Sports:
He wasn’t alone either, as Bossi notes he brought two assistants along. Showing up early as recruiting is getting back into swing and bringing along multiple assistants is a strong showing of interest.
The other schools involved are Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma and Big Ten rivals Michigan State and Oregon. It’s steep competition, but that’s to be expected for a player of Taylor’s caliber. He was seen in Lawrence this past weekend and already has a visit to Bloomington scheduled.
