Good morning, baseball fans!
My plan was to write up a game thread, of sorts, for the playoff games taking place today and tomorrow. But then I remembered that I write these on Friday, and as of the time I am writing this, there’s absolutely nothing set in stone for Monday and Tuesday, other than that the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing. And even the Dodgers are TBD in terms of where they will be playing.
All of that is a long-winded way of saying that I have a lot less information
right now than you do, future reader.
I do know that today will feature Game 2 of the American League Championship Series in Toronto, airing on either Fox or Fox Sports 1. We will also see Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, which will air on TBS.
Tuesday will feature Game 2 of the NLCS, and it will start at 5:08 p.m. PT and air on TBS. At least that one has a start time.
Anyway, that’s the housekeeping issues dealt with. But it is Monday (or Tuesday), and you deserve nice things. So I’m going to share a video of Buster Posey sitting down with Kerry Crowley of The San Francisco Standard last week.
The two discuss all the things you would expect them to, but I really enjoyed Posey’s story about what drew his family back to Northern California. Here is a bit of it paraphrased from Joaquin Ruiz over on NBC Sports Bay Area:
“I think for me personally, it took a year away to realize just how important and special this part of the world had become to me and my wife and our kids.“
I really like that sentiment, because it seems like a lot of former players (specifically those who have gone on to play for other teams) feel the need to kind of disparage the area, for whatever reason. And it’s often used as an “explanation” for why more free agents don’t “want” to sign here. So it’s a little refreshing to see Posey explain how his family fell in love with the region. Among other great bits from the interview.
The video is a little under a half hour, so get your coffee, sit back and enjoy!
