There is a LOT to unpack from that match. Tottenham Hotspur lost at home to Liverpool 2-1. That result maybe isn’t that surprising, if you didn’t watch the match. But holy moly there’s a LOT going on — a Xavi Simons red card in the 33rd minute, a dumb first goal for Liverpool, a second Liverpool goal given after Hugo Ekitike shoved off of Cuti Romero who picked up a yellow for dissent, a Richarlison pull-back goal late, a second yellow for Romero putting Spurs down to 9, and one of the most insanely
incompetent performances by a match official (John Brooks) that I’ve ever seen.
It’s not that Spurs didn’t play well — they didn’t. But they were actually, I’d argue, BETTER than Liverpool on the day, despite being down two men. Are you mad? I’m mad.
It’s time to rate the players.
Rate the players from 1⁄2 to 5 stars. If the player doesn’t deserve a rating due to minutes played, DO NOT RANK. I will round the stars up/down to the nearest half-star for the player ratings later this week.
