Perhaps it was a mistake to relaunch The Daily Bee during an international break. There isn’t much going on during the break. Maybe I should have just written “Go outside, you nerds” until I met the word
limit and published that instead.
Anyway, there is some news, at least. But we might have to get a little silly and start making stuff up next week.
BVB News
- Borussia Dortmund have offered Nico Schlotterbeck a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2030 and increase his salary to a minimum of €8m per year.
- Sky Sports recently interviewed Niko Kovač, and he shared his thoughts on BVB’s back three system and the importance of Nico Schlotterbeck and Serhou Guirassy to the team.
- Despite some reports (of seemingly questionable origin) that Bellingham is frustrated with his lack of playing time, he has apparently been hard at work in training, and the club are pleased with his progress.
- There are concerns that Emre Can’s adductor injury may keep him out until next year.
Bundesliga News
- Harry Kane has been ruled out of England’s friendly against Wales tonight after he picked up a knock against Frankfurt at the weekend.
- Stuttgart are keen to trigger Bilal El Khannouss’s €18m purchase option as the Moroccan international has impressed since joining the club on loan from Leicester City.
- Borussia Mönchengladbach are a bit of a mess right now, but they are actively working to fix the situation. Die Fohlen have identified RB Salzburg’s Director of Sport, Rouven Schröder, as the leading candidate to replace Roland Virkus as Head of Sport. They will also give interim head coach Eugen Polanski the next three Bundesliga games, against Union Berlin, Bayern Munich, and FC Köln (plus the DFB-Pokal tie against Karlsruhe), to audition for the permanent role.
Your Thoughts?
Lots of football fans complain about the international breaks. I am probably a bigger England fan than I am a fan of any other team (as a result of what the modern England team have come to represent), so I’m not really in that camp. International football is definitely a duller watch than the domestic game, but it means something. Which of the upcoming international games, if any, interests you?
