Michigan tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham is not shying away as it pertains to the top prospects at the position for the 2028 recruiting class. That includes four-star Jack McNamara, who’s coming off a spring visit to Ann Arbor. He got to spend quality time with Whittingham and experience a deep dive on the program itself.
“I had a great time at the visit,” McNamara told Maize n Brew. “I learned a lot of things about the program that I didn’t know before.”
The Wolverines producing NFL tight ends
like AJ Barner and Colston Loveland has McNamara’s attention.
“I think that I fit perfectly into their tight end room due to them using hybrid tight ends,” McNamara said. “All of the tight ends are very skilled in both the run and pass game. I can’t wait to see how they preform this season.”
McNamara is part of the Chicago surge that Michigan is deploying under the new coaching staff. Hailing from powerhouse Brother Rice, McNamara is building a very close relationship with Whittingham.
“My relationship with xoach Freddie Whittingham is very strong and I am excited to see how it will grow,” McNamara said. “He’s a coach that has developed many high level tight ends with lots of experience.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham is also involved in McNamara’s recruitment.
“He’s a great person and cares a lot about all of his players in the program,” McNamara said.
McNamara is looking to get back to campus in the next couple months after the team set the bar a few weeks ago.
“Michigan has definitely put themselves very high on my list,” McNamara said. “I plan on coming back next in the summer. I can’t wait to see how they have improved from the spring.”
