The New York Heights and the L.A. Queens enter the penultimate weekend on opposite trajectories.
The Queens spent the first couple weeks of the season jockeying for the top spot in the league standings. Over the past week they have lost three out of the four games they’ve played, including twice to the Heights. They suddenly find themselves sitting on a .500 record and in third place.
The Heights, on the other hand, are riding high on a four game winning streak in which they have beaten every team
in the league. They had spent the first couple of weeks failing to consistently win despite incredible performances by their catcher Danae Benites. Their recent string of team success has brought them up to a 6-5 record and only a game behind the league leader San Francisco Firebells.
Tonight these two teams meet for the fourth time at a critical juncture in the short season. This will be a battle to determine which team enters the final week of the regular season in the upper half of the standings.
Of particular note is that tonight’s game is Australia, Japan, and South Korea heritage night for the WPBL!
In celebration the first 250 fans in the stadium will be receiving a Hyeonah Kim bobblehead.
