The Wisconsin Badgers are already up to 20 transfers heading out of the program this offseason, with several of those players being starters this past season.
Two of the group are heading to the same ACC
school, as quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. and wide receiver Trech Kekahuna both committed to play for Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels this week.
Edwards, a senior at Wisconsin this past season, played just 34 snaps across two games this year as he suffered a knee injury that cost him a majority of the year. He’s now using his redshirt and will spend his final year of eligibility at North Carolina.
Prior to his one year at Wisconsin, Edwards had spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career with the Maryland Terrapins, becoming a full-time starter for the first time in 2024, when he threw for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
Kekahuna, on the other hand, was Wisconsin’s starting slot receiver this season, catching 26 passes for 211 yards, while taking 14 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. A four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, Kekahuna was arguably the most talented receiver during his time in Madison, but Wisconsin could just never find a way to utilize him correctly.
A redshirt sophomore in 2025, Kekahuna will have two years of eligibility left at North Carolina.
The Tar Heels underwhelmed in Belichick’s first year, with off-field distractions being the main storyline over the course of the season. They went 4-8, going 2-6 in ACC play, and fired offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens after the season. Belichick hired former Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bobby Petrino as the new offensive coordinator, and both Edwards and Kekahuna will play for him in 2025.
