For the second time in four years, Tennessee has a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist.
The award and the school announced on Monday that Chris Brazzell II is among the 13 semifinalists for the prestigious award given
to the nation’s top wide receiver.
The other semifinalists are Chris Bell (Louisville), Skyler Bell (UConn), Germie Bernard (Alabama), Omar Cooper Jr. (Indiana), Mario Craver (Texas A&M), Makai Lemon (USC), Eric McAlister (TCU), Duce Robinson (Florida State), Elijah Sarratt (Indiana), Danny Scudero (San José State), Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State) and Carnell Tate (Ohio State).
Brazzell leads the SEC in receiving yards (873), receiving touchdowns (8; tied for first), and receiving yards per game 87.3. He’s taken an enormous leap forward this season from an inconsistent 2024 season, thanks in large part to a jolt to the passing game with Joey Aguilar under center and two other strong receivers producing heavily – and thus drawing attention from opposing teams – in Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley.
Tennessee saw Jalin Hyatt claim the program’s first-ever Biletnikoff Award in 2022 amid the program’s 11-win season. If Tennessee gets its second winner in four years, that’ll mean good news for the team as they head into a crucial finishing stretch of Florida on Saturday and Vanderbilt the following week. We’ll see if Brazzell and the Vols can finish strong and create a memorable end to the regular season.
