The Dallas Cowboys offense could get stronger if guard Tyler Smith is able to play on a short week. Dak Prescott and Javonte Williams would love having the big guy back.
George Pickens talked about his role on the team while CeeDee Lamb was celebrating a homecoming in Houston. Let’s check the news.
Cowboys open practice window for All-Pro Tyler Smith – Patrik Walker, DallasCowboys.com
Tyler Smith’s return could be coming at the perfect time, as the Cowboys’ interior offensive line had some struggles against the Texans.
On Monday, one day following the narrow comeback win over the Houston
Texans, the Cowboys officially activated the 21-day practice window for their three-time Pro Bowler, meaning he can return to practice on a short week ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The “hope” is that Smith can practice on Tuesday, per head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
It is still undecided if Smith will take the field on Thursday Night Football, but there is a solid chance he could.

More time in the pocket for Dak Prescott would be a very good thing for this offense too.
Jones pointed out that both wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were open on multiple routes in the Cowboys’ Week 4 win, only to have Prescott unable to get off a throw due to a collapsing pocket.
“A guy like Tyler Smith is going to give you that extra half a second,” Jones said, “to maybe look down the field and make that play.”

Sunday was a bit of a homecoming game for CeeDee Lamb, and he reminded the world he’s still one of the best receivers in football.
Lamb grew up 24 miles from Reliant Stadium in Richmond, Texas. He had attended a game at the home of the Texans, but he had never played there until Sunday.
The Cowboys receiver went off against his hometown team, catching 17 passes for 189 yards, including the game-winning, 12-yard touchdown with 40 seconds remaining.

George Pickens sends important message that reaffirms who he’s been for the Dallas Cowboys after a two-catch game – Mauricio Rodriguez, A to Z Sports
The Cowboys are putting up major points and offensive efficiency numbers without a huge game from George Pickens yet, who has no problem waiting for his day to come.
It seems like every time Pickens goes without getting a lot of targets, people around the NFL expect trouble to arise. But if anything, that’s all about his Steelers days. With the Cowboys, even under the tag, Pickens is having fun even when he’s blocking for Lamb and Co.
“It was great,” Picken said of watching Lamb go off versus the Texans. “Definitely just the looks we were getting. Just definitely giving the ball every time he’s breaking tackles. So, it was super fun to watch. And then I’m on the field blocking, so it’s always fun to be in there while he’s doing it.”
Jake Ferguson’s fourth-down catch kept Dallas’ comeback alive – Mike Poland, Blogging The Boys
There were clutch plays all around in the four-point win on the road for Dallas.
It was a modest gain at the time but as it turned out it held enormous importance. Dallas needed four yards to continue fighting, and Dak trusted his tight end to deliver. Ferguson secured the pass with a sliding catch, giving the offense another set of downs when an incompletion would have handed Houston possession deep in Cowboys territory to kill the game.
Week 4 overreactions: Should Rams still be Super Bowl favorites? Cowboys to win NFC East? – Zachary Pereles, CBS Sports
The Cowboys winning on the same day the Eagles lose is always fun.
This is a game the Cowboys needed to win, and they found a way to do so. Looking around the division, the Eagles’ offense remains a mess, the Giants are 3-1 but not likely to threaten with Jameis Winston under center, and the Commanders are in a world of trouble.
Simply put, Dallas, with a defense that should only improve and an offense that can go toe-to-toe with any, should win this division. If it can’t, there should be major questions from the top down … again.
