The Cincinnati Bengals have a next man up problem at the backup tight end position. It was a position they seemed to be really deep at, but now a few injuries have them looking towards the end of the depth chart a little farther than some may like.
Fear not, as the next player in line is Jack Endries. He is a rookie tight end out of Texas who was selected in the Seventh Round, but was expected to go much sooner. Now he gets an early chance to prove that everyone made a mistake when evaluating him.
“They’ll have to pick up the slack, and we’ll be counting on them to do that. Attention to detail has been really important to him. Waiting for his moment, you can tell. He never knew when his number was going to be called. He’s really got to know three different positions, and so I’ve got trust just watching him operate in practice and in meetings and in training camp that if needed he was going to be ready to go. There was a time where he wasn’t needed, because we had everybody healthy, and now’s that time. So I’m not nervous at all about using him. I think he’s earned the opportunity,” Taylor said, via Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
Endries has a real chip on his shoulder. He really projected as a possible replacement for Mike Gesicki down the line, but he will clearly need to help fill the role that Noah Fant played last year that Erick All Jr. was commanding this season. It doesn’t fit his projected skill set, but we will see how much work he has put in learning that spot during the offseason and this year.

Quick Hits | Bengals Still Wary Of Titans Despite Simmons Trade; ‘November Is What They Remember’
Trap games are always a mentality. And it can happen when a team starts drinking the Kool-Aid a bit too much as a seemingly lesser team comes on the schedule. It is human nature to look at it and think it should be an easy win. That is why they play the game, though. There are a ton of people in Tennessee that will be playing for their football lives the rest of the season.
Bengals’ Job Sunday Just Got a Lot Easier with Titans Trading Star Defensive Tackle
It may be a sigh of relief now, but we will see Sunday how the Titans come out and play. At least the odds of Joe Burrow getting sacked went down a little bit, but this is still going to be a game this team needs to show up ready to play and not try and sleepwalk through.
Why Ja’Marr Chase is happy when the Bengals’ other playmakers get the ball
The first thing that helps is the team is winning a majority of their games. If he had a slow start and they were 2-4 instead it’d probably be a different tune. However, this should ultimately open things up for him more as teams doing everything to take him away still aren’t slowing down this offense.

Bears acquire DT Jeffery Simmons from Titans in blockbuster trade
People are saying the Bengals got a bargain, and in a way they did. However, Cincinnati’s Forst Round pick was established as the No. 10 overall pick. The Bears are 5-2 and with this trade hopefully will continue their winning ways. These two firsts could easily both be in the high teens or 20’s.
NFL Week 8 picks: Upset and score predictions, matchup breakdowns for every game
It is easy to see why the experts have the confidence in the Bengals. The Bengals have a Top 5 scoring offense where the Titans rank near dead last in most offensive categories. It still feels a bit uneasy to see every expert going with almost a rout of Tennessee.
Cam Heyward chirps back at Jared Verse ahead of Browns-Steelers rematch: ‘Bring it on’
Meh, Heyward deserves respect, but he is pretty off base about his team’s offensive line. That is the same offensive line that was grabbing and lifting Dexter Lawrence’s leg several times during their matchup. It is also kind of impossible to ignore the history of the players on that team for years now. He can be hype for the game, but he can’t be serious with this “we are operating in the scope of the game” act.
