Due to a reported cancellation of the backend of a home-and-home series, TCU will no longer host Stanford during the 2027 season. Instead, the Horned Frogs are now slated to welcome North Texas to Amon G. Carter Stadium for a nonconference matchup against the Mean Green. TCU has played the school just three times in the program’s history. The Horned Frogs, who’re 3-0 lifetime against the Mean Green, haven’t faced North Texas in over 20 years. TCU last faced them in 2002, winning 16-10. The Frogs won
19-5 in 2001 and 27-3 in 1999.
North Texas went 12-2 during the 2025 season and ended the season ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll. The Mean Green defeated San Diego State 49-47 in the New Mexico Bowl. North Texas has seen several changes over the offseason, losing head coach Eric Morris and starting quarterback Drew Mestemaker to Oklahoma State. The Mean Green have since hired former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown to head the program.
TCU now has two nonconference home games locked in for the 2027 season, North Texas and Sam Houston. The Horned Frogs, who’ve finished 9-4 over each of the last two seasons, will face North Carolina in Dublin this year before welcoming Grambling and Arkansas State for nonconference games. TCU has one more slot to fill in 2027.
