The New England Patriots announced the waiving of guard Layden Robinson with the injury designation. In the event the 2024 draft choice goes unclaimed, he would revert to the organization’s injured reserve.
Robinson, 24, arrived in the fourth round of last year’s class at pick No. 103 overall. The 6-foot-3, 311-pound Texas A&M product appeared in 13 games during his rookie regular season. He made 11 starts, going from left guard to right guard,
and was charted by Pro Football Focus for allowing 33 quarterback pressures in pass protection by January’s finale.
Under head coach Mike Vrabel, August’s preseason action saw Robinson handle 33 snaps on offense and 11 snaps on special teams. The 2021 and 2023 second-team All-SEC selection’s departure now leaves the active roster at 76 players.
He was among 11 not spotted during Sunday’s practice outside Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots previously made 14 cuts entering the weekend. The initial round of transactions included quarterback Ben Wooldridge, running backs Micah Bernard and Shane Watts, wide receiver Phil Lutz Jr., tight ends Jaheim Bell and Cole Fotheringham, offensive linemen Sidy Sow and Tyrese Robinson, defensive tackles Kyle Peko and Philip Blidi, linebackers Monty Rice and R.J. Moten, and cornerbacks Jordan Polk and Isaiah Bolden.
